Description
Model 816 Maier-Hancock Corp Portable Hot Splicer. This was the actual unit that I used when I started my career as a film editor. There is NO BETTER way to splice 16mm or 8mm film together than with a hot splicer. I used to cut camera original negatives for clients at FotoKem in Burbank with this splicer. The strength of connecting film pieces together between frames with a permanent cemented bond is the only way to avoid using tape. Hot Splicing bonds the film "between" the frames instead of taping over frames so you loose no picture quality to tape bubbles and wrinkles. Hot Splices do not break down in storage like tape does. You can cut together any type of 8 or 16mm negative, print, color reversal or whatever with this splicer. This splicing unit is tight and sound. The most important thing on any slicer is that the plates and blades work together tightly without binding, that it cuts and scrapes the film backing perfectly, and that the film is in now way damaged when held between the plates. This splicer has perfect plates as you can see by the picture. It's been in storage for many years but is in perfect working condition. I have not weighed this splicer, but trust me, it's very solid and heavy. Buyer will pay for shipping, but you may pick between Fed-Ex, UPS or US Postal. Local pick up is okay as well. Good Luck!
