Description
New, factory fresh unit, in box complete with all original packing, foam windscreen, stand-clamp, warranty and documentation. Included is a brand new Hosa XLR 10' professional mic cable (normally sold for $19.95, included free here!). We are an authorized Audio Technica dealer. The microphone has a one-year factory warranty.  The new Audio Technica AT897 shotgun mic is an excellent choice for videographers and low budget filmmakers. It is a step above the venerable AT835b short shotgun that has served us well for over a decade. To begin with, the new AT897 is only 11 inches long. That makes it shorter in length than either the AT835b or the Senn K6/ME66. Much easier to keep out of the frame if you are using the mic on-board a camcorder! But the real difference is in the performance! The AT897 sounds much closer to a condenser mic than it does to another ENG (electric condenser) mic. The dialogue is richer and less shrill. Echo is reduced somewhat. The AT897 has more front reach, and better side rejection than either of the other two. The AT897 powers from an internal AA battery or from external phantom power. It features a bass roll-off switch and comes with a foam windscreen, stand clamp, and a useful 5/8 to 3/8 thread adapter. Audio-Technica’s AT897 is designed for field audio acquisition in film/TV/video production, professional recording, wildlife recording and broadcast applications. It mounts conveniently on a DV camcorder without adding noticeable heft, and remains out of the frame even with compact digital cameras. This high-performance short shotgun offers outstanding long-distance audio pickup due to narrow acceptance angle of line + gradient design. It also features smooth, natural-sounding on-axis audio quality and excellent off-axis rejection of sound arriving from the sides and rear of mic. Designed for video production and broadcast (ENG/EFP) audio acquisition Short length (11") ensures mic stays out of the shot -- even when used with compact digital cameras Smooth, natural-sounding on-axis audio quality Provides the narrow acceptance angle desirable for long-distance sound pickup Excellent sound rejection from the sides and rear of mic Switchable low-frequency roll-off Operates on battery or phantom power Specifications ELEMENT Fixed-charge back plate, permanently polarized condenser POLAR PATTERN Line + gradient FREQUENCY RESPONSE 20-20,000 Hz LOW FREQUENCY ROLL-OFF 80 Hz, 12 dB/octave OPEN CIRCUIT SENSITIVITY Phantom: -40 dB (10.0 mV) re 1V at 1 Pa Battery: -41 dB (8.9 mV) re 1V at 1 Pa IMPEDANCE Phantom: 200 ohms Battery: 300 ohms MAXIMUM INPUT SOUND LEVEL Phantom: 129 dB SPL, 1 kHz at 1% T.H.D.
