Description
*** 24 August Update: I have received a number of enquiries as to whether I would be open to offers on the entire listing or open to offers on individual items if the listing closes without sale. Sorry, but the answer to both questions is no. The items appear as a fixed price Buy It Now listing because that is my lowest price and the listing will not appear again in whole or in part at  a lower price. If the listing does not sell at 45% of cost, I am content to hold on to everything and defer the purchase I mentioned below as my reason for sale. Thank you for your interest. ****    This listing is by a private seller and represents all of the equipment you need to set up a fully functional 3 strobe portrait studio with quality equipment at 45% of what it would cost to buy these items at B&H Photo Video or Adorama. The following is a summary of the items included:-    3 Studio Strobe Monolights, 2 Soft Boxes with Speed Rings, a 10 and 20 Degree Grid Kit, 4 Pocket Wizard Plus II Radio Triggers, 1 Sekonic L758DR Light Meter with Integrated Pocket Wizard, 1 Infra-Red Remote Control and 2 Receivers, 4 Light Stands, 1 Savage Port-A-Stand Background Support Kit, a 42” Collapsible Reflector Kit and Holding Arm, an Avenger Boom Arm, and a Rosco Color Effects Gel Kit.   If you price all of these items today at bhphotovideo.com or adorama.com, it comes to $5,200. You can have it all now for $2,349 (45% of cost) plus $247.75 flat-rate shipping via UPS Ground. See Shipping Information below for an explanation of the shipping cost.   I have included the B&H Photo Video or Adorama stock numbers and new prices in the item listings below, as appropriate, so you can verify this information for yourself.   I caution you not to click Buy It Now if your intent is to contact me afterward and negotiate for select items in the listing. These items are for sale ONLY as an indivisible lot at the stated price. If a ‘buyer’ violates these terms, I will cancel the transaction, provide immediate non-paying bidder feedback, and file for an Unpaid Item Strike.   The astute potential buyer will recognize that at 45% of cost they could re-sell any equipment listed here that they don’t have a personal need for and likely reduce their final purchase cost appreciably below $2,349 by re-selling those items.   Yes, I could sell these items individually if I wanted to, with a similar result, but I don’t have the patience to do so J.      Please contact me if you have any technical questions about the equipment.   The manuals for everything will be provided, but I would be happy to provide ongoing email support (and reasonable telephone support as long as Buyer originates the calls) for a month or so as needed if he or she is new to studio photography and would like help getting everything connected and configured, etc.   Everything on this list is less than 1 year old, everything is lightly used, everything is in excellent condition, and it is a Buy it Now listing because it’s all going for 45% of what I paid for it. I am selling these items to support the purchase of new camera equipment.   Specifically, the items listed are as follows:-   Three(3) Photogenic Solair 500ws Consistant and Constant Color Powerlight Monolights. Photogenic Part Number PL500DRC, Adorama.com Stock Number POPL500DRC. Currently $739 each New. $2,217 Total.  These monolights are the newest Solair models. They are NOT the older models you see from time to time on eBay that either have analog sliders on the control panels making consistent and repeatable control difficult or, if they do have digital controls, they do not offer the consistency of both power and flash color output offered by the Solair models.   Of course, these monolights do also include power output that is digitally adjustable in 1/10 or ½  stop increments over an 8 f-stop range from 500ws down to 4ws. This kind of adjustment range and precision means you will not have to go fooling around with moving your lights farther or closer to the subject to get your lighting right as you would with many other monolights!   The lights also include a 250W proportional modeling lamp that can be set to automatically track the flash output or be turned fully on or fully off. They are also fan cooled which is an important consideration when the lights are enclosed in the included soft boxes. They have metal chassis and are built like tanks. The Photogenic brand is designed and assembled in the U.S.A., it has a solid reputation for reliability and it has been a mainstay of portrait studios for many years. I have been very happy with these, and if I ever needed monolights again I would buy Photogenic’s Solair models again without reservation.        Features Auto Bracketing Audible Mis-fire Feature Digital Display 8 F-stop Range 4 to 500ws in 1/10 or 1/2 stop increments 5 sec. to 3.0 sec. One (1)  Sekonic L-758DR DigitalMaster Flash Meter - For Ambient and Flash Light with Radio Triggering. BHPhotoVideo.com Part Number SEL758DR. $499 New.   This is the best light meter on the market today. Ambient, or Flash, or Ambient-Flash combined readings. 1 degree spot meter. Supports camera exposure profiling. Firmware upgradeable via USB port. Does everything a meter could possibly do except make your breakfast in the morning. Includes integrated Pocket Wizard for wireless flash triggering and measurement.                 3. Four (4) PocketWizard Plus II Transceivers/Relay Radio Slaves - Combined                   Transmitter or Receiver in One Unit. B&H Photo Video Part Number                   WIPWP2T. $188.95 New. $755.80 set of 4.                            Pocket Wizards are the undisputed gold standard for radio triggering of strobes        among professional photographers. Enough said.     4. One (1) Photogenic IR Remote Control with 2 Receiver Kit for PL1250/2500.       B&H Photo Video Part Number PHRCIRKPL. $304.95 New.   What do you need these for if you have Pocket Wizards? Well, these allow you to make every adjustment from a handheld remote that you could make at the panel of the strobe. Pocket wizards are strictly flash triggering devices. These infrared remote add-ons are ridiculously expensive when purchased new but worth every penny considering the convenience they provide.   5. One (1) Photoflex MultiDome Q39 Softbox for Flash Only - Large - 36x48x25"       B&H Photo Video Part Number PHMDLQ. $219.95 New.   The Photoflex Large MultiDome Q39 Softbox with removable silver and gold interior lining panels. The 36 x 48" size is perfect for a 3/4 length portrait of 2 - 3 people, or a larger-than-a-breadbox product setup. Speed Ring is normally purchased separately. It is the next item included in this listing.                 6. One (1) Photoflex Speed Ring Octo Connector for Photogenic       Photogenic Powerlight Series, PM12, AE10, AA12, PL06, Studiomaster Series,       StudioMax II and III Series. B&H Part Number PHSRODP. $42.95 New.   Speed Ring for Item 5 above. A required item for mounting a soft box to the monolight.   7. One (1) Chimera Super Pro Plus Softbox, White Interior for Flash Only - Small –                   24x32" (60x80cm). B&H Part Number CHSPPBSW. $184.95 New.                     The Small Super Pro Plus with white interior is ideal for work where maximum                   softening of flash is desired. The light quality from this soft box will be softer than                   that  produced by a Super Pro Plus with silver interior. Speed Ring normally                   purchased separately is the next item listed.                 8. One (1) Chimera Quick Release Speed Ring for Photogenic Powerlight,                   StudioMax II, III. B&H Part Number CHSRQRP. $93.95 New.       This Chimera Quick Release Speed Ring allows mounting of Chimera, or almost any     other brand rectangular softbox to a Photogenic Powerlight, StudioMax II, or III     monolight. The Quick Release Series releases the tension of the wands in the frame of     your softbox, allowing it to collapse easily for breakdown, or for moving on quickly     to the next setup without disassembling the box.   Either of the Speed Rings listed here can be used with either soft box listed. Because it has the Quick Release mechanism, it would be more valuable used on the larger Photoflex 36x48” soft box.                    9. One (1) Photogenic Honeycomb Grid Set - Fine & Coarse, with Frame for 7.5"         Reflector. B&H Part Number PHGSPM. $168.50 New.           Includes a mounting frame, diffuser, and interchangeable 10 and 20 degree         honeycomb grids. The entire assembly simply clips to the face of the standard        7 ½”reflector that comes with each monolight. Useful for colorizing seamless paper          backgrounds with the included Rosco Color Effects Gel Kit. Hint: If you buy only          one color of  seamless background paper, make it medium gray. An unlit medium          gray gives you a black background. Over expose it and you get a white background.          Around about a normal exposure of a gray background with color gels gives you the          richest colors.   10. One (1)  Photogenic Chameleon Collapsible Reflector 5-in-1 - 42" Circular –                       Black, Silver, White, Gold and Translucent. B&H Part Number PHRCK42.           $74.95 New.              This is super useful both for filling in studio flash portraits and outside for          natural light portraits. It’s also super portable. The Chameleon five-in-one portable          reflector kit eliminates the need for multiple reflectors, silks and solids.                       The Silfoil Chameleon is a lightweight, circular, steel-framed reflector system which                      folds conveniently into a disc approximately one-third its in-use size for easy                      transport and storage.                     Unlike conventional reflectors, however, the Chameleon features a removable,                     reversible cover which allows for five uniquely functional surfaces in three separate                     configurations:                 Black on one side for blocking unwanted light and silver mylar on the other for               reflecting cool brilliant light. Reverse the cover for white and gold reflectors to               capture the warmer tones. Remove the cover entirely to reveal a single, translucent               panel just right for soft, diffused effects. Includes a handy, tear resistant nylon              carrying pouch. Use the next item, Item 11 to hold it in position in studio.   11. One (1) Photoflex Holder for Litedisc Collapsible Reflectors. B&H Part           Number DL-BHOLDER. $47.95 New.         The Photoflex Telescopic Litedisc Holder is adjustable, easy to swivel and rotate for                    precise position. The Holder extends from 30" up to 67". The Litedisc Holder comes                    complete. It includes an extension arm, lightstand attachment and two moveable                    spring clips. Use this to hold the previous item, Item 10, in place in the studio or                    outdoors.                    This is a light-weight item so make sure you only use it for its intended                    purpose, i.e.holding reflectors. Use the next item in the list, Item 12, if you want to                    suspend a monolight with the Grid Kit over the subject as a hair light without having                    your light stand intrude into the picture.        12. One (1)  Avenger D600CB - Mini Boom - Black and Chrome. B&H Part           Number AVD600CB. $108.50 New.                                           Boom arms provide an unobstrusive method of positioning lighting fixtures and                      reflectors above a subject. Supports 66 lbs at the minimum extension of 46 in.                      Supports 15.4 lbs at the maximum extension of 83 in. You can’t go wrong with                      Bogen/Manfroto/Avenger grip equipment. This is perfect for your 6 pound                      monolight even at maximum extension with either softbox attached.            For safety, and to protect your equipment, do remember to brace the legs of your          light stand with a sandbag or similar counter-weight to prevent the entire assembly          from tipping over. This isn’t any kind of deficiency with the light stand or the          boom. It’s simply the laws of physics in operation.        13. Four (4) Photogenic TAHS13 Light Stands - Air Cushioned, Black, 13.' B&H       Photo Part Number PHLS13AC. $98.95 each New. $296.85 Set of 4.           The Talon line of light stands from Photogenic are a combination of design quality                     And practicality, achieving superior stability and longer service life even under                     constant, rigorous use. This is a black anodized aluminum stand that rises to a                     maximum height of 13 ft.          When it comes to light stands there is a lot of junk out there that you don’t want        to entrust your expensive lights to. These are good stable light stands with a long        reach that will serve you well.   14. One (1)  Photogenic Heavy Duty Backlight Stand – 3.'       B&H Part Number  PHTALS3. $47.95 New.   Allows positioning of a flash head near to the floor, for lighting a background, or low-lying subject. Put your monolight and included GridKit on this light stand and play around with the included color gel filters for different colored backgrounds.   15. One (1)  Savage Background Port-A-Stand System - Consists of: 2 Support Stands, Telescopic Crossbar, & Travel Case. B&H Part Number SABGSPASQ. $109.95 New.                    The Savage Background Port-A-Stand consists of two black folding upright stands                   that can rise to a height of 8' 10", a crossbar that can expand to a width of 9' 5", and a                   travel case with handle. It is ideal for the photographer on the go. It is lightweight –                  12 pounds (5.4kg), and compact -- closes down to less than 44 inches. The Port-A-                  Stand is designed to safely support 9' rolls of seamless paper, and cloth backgrounds                  as heavy as muslin. For 10' wide cloth backgrounds, either fold the edges under, or                  gather and drape the material to fit the width of the crossbar.                    You can buy 26, 50, or 109” rolls of seamless background paper to mount on this.                  Don’t forget! You really only need one color – medium gray – as I mentioned earlier.                  You can turn that medium gray into black or white or into various colors with the Grid                  Kit and Colored Gel Kit that come with this listing.                     16. One (1) Rosco Color Effects Kit. B&H Part Number ROCEK1012. $31.95 New.                     The color filters in this kit are selected from the range of over 300 colors which                   Rosco produces for theatre, film and television. Each of the sheets of color is 10" x                  12" (25x30cm) and deep-dyed on a heat resistant base.                    As I mentioned earlier, I pre-cut these into circular shapes to fit the Grid Kit for                  colorizing my background.     Ok, that completes the list.   If you are new to studio photography, here is a run-down on why some of these items may be useful or how they are used.   Included in this auction are four Pocket Wizard Plus II transceivers, one for each light and one for the flash shoe on your camera (currently $188.95 each at BH Photo Video.) With these, you won’t have to fool around with a flash sync cable between your camera hot shoe and one of your lights or with cheap Chinese radio triggers that fail to fire your lights half the time. The fact that you have a Pocket Wizard for each light means you don’t have to rely on the flash light from a single radio triggered light reaching the remaining optically slaved lights in order to trigger the remaining two lights. That’s a problem when you want to light your background independently from your subject. It’ll be no problem for you with a Pocket Wizard on each of your lights!   Also included is one IR remote control and two IR receivers (currently $304 a set at BH Photo Video) for two of the three lights that allow you to make any adjustment you could make on the monolight control panel but from a handheld remote control instead. This is extremely useful for making remote power adjustments on your lights from the subject position after taking your initial light reading using the included top-of-the-line Sekonic L758DR flash meter (currently $499 at BH Photo Video.)   I usually put the two IR Remote receivers on the key and fill lights so I don’t have to stand on a chair or get into awkward positions to reach the control panel on the key and fill lights to make power adjustments. Your background light on the included 3 foot light stand will be sitting close to floor level so it is easier to make manual adjustments on this light by virtue of its more convenient position. In any case, you will make far fewer adjustments to your background light than you will with your key and fill lights. This is why I never bothered to buy a third IR receiver to put on the background light.    The included Sekonic light meter comes with a built in pocket wizard transmitter so all you have to do to meter your light’s flash output is press the measure button on your meter from your measuring location and the meter will radio trigger your strobes to fire for measurement. The IR remote control is great for negating the need for walking back and forth to your lights when making flash output adjustments after you have taken a light reading! With your pocket wizard-enabled light meter in one hand and your IR remote in the other, you’ll have your lights measured and adjusted in no time!         General Terms:   Once again, please do not click Buy It Now if your intent is to contact me afterward and negotiate for select items in the listing. These items are for sale ONLY as an indivisible lot at the stated price. If a ‘buyer’ violates these terms, I will cancel the transaction, provide immediate non-paying bidder feedback, and file for an Unpaid Item Strike.   Payment Terms:   I accept PayPal only. Payment is required within 7 days of the close of auction without exception.  Items will ship promptly when payment is received (Hell, everything is already packed as you can see.) If payment is NOT received within 7 days, non-paying bidder feedback will be left and I will file with eBay for an Unpaid Item Strike against the non-paying bidder. If you do not have the resources to complete this transaction within 7 days of close of auction, please do not bid.   Shipping Information   Local pick-up (Items are in Texas, 79930), or flat-rate shipping via UPS ground at $247.75 (United States, except Alaska and Hawaii.)   I did not offer you calculated shipping by your zip code because the shipping wizard does not allow me to enter calculated shipping for multiple packages. I arrived at the flat rate by running each of the three packages through the shipping wizard in turn and summing the individual package rates given by the wizard using the representative destination rates given .    Please bear in mind that the combined weight of the three packages is approximately 120 pounds, one of the packages is Extra Large - Oversize 3 and the other two are Large-Oversize 1.   If you are fortunate enough to live locally you have the option to pick up the equipment yourself and incur no shipping charges whatsoever.    As you can see from the picture, everything is already packed for shipping.   Thanks for looking!
