This is an original Midland Leica KE-7A military still picture M4 camera made for the US army. All black finish. Comes with its matching Leica Elcan 50mm F2 military lens. This is known to be one of the most sought after cameras. Made by Leica in the Midland factory for the US army. Has the characteristics and features of a Leica M4 but has special attributes and characteristics. This camera specifically made was in very limited production. Especially the fact that this is THE KE-7A camera to have. This is a non serial number camera. Made for collectors only. A very small batch of the already limited released KE-7A cameras made were sold to collectors by Leica without a serial #. It has been proven and documented in Paul-Henry Van Hasvroeck’s ‘Rare and Unusual M Series Cameras and Accessories’ (page 29). (A photocopy of this book will be provided to the winner of this auction) It mentions that a small batch of these cameras were sold to collectors and did not have the serial number. This is one of those rare examples. Not only is it complete with its matching lens but it is also in mint condition. I would rate this a 9.5+ out of 10. You will be amazed at the condition of this camera. It’s remarkable that a camera like this after all these years would still be in this condition. Many of the KE-7 cameras were heavily used because they were military issued. The small batch of KE-7As that I have seen that are in good condition sell for anywhere between $12,000-$15,000. But to have one with no serial number is unheard of. I personally have never seen one for sale or had the pleasure of owning. This is a rare opportunity. Mint condition cosmetically, mechanically working perfectly and optically clean and clear. Shutter speeds are accurate. Some of the characteristics of this camera were that it was sealed on the inside to prevent dust, debris and/or sand to get inside the camera when in military use. A real gem.
